Advancing Health Through Clinical Research in Kenya

CRK-NGO conducts high-impact clinical research focused on heart health, non-communicable diseases, and healthcare system improvement to serve vulnerable communities.
Closing gaps in evidence-based healthcare

Why CRK-NGO Research in Kenya Matters

In Kenya, the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as heart disease, diabetes, and stroke is rising rapidly. Yet, many communities, especially those in informal settlements and remote rural areas, face limited access to diagnosis, treatment, and prevention services. Despite this growing challenge, these populations often remain under-researched, leaving critical gaps in knowledge and solutions.

At CRK-NGO, we believe that clinical research in Kenya must go beyond academic publications. Our mission is to generate evidence that directly translates into better health outcomes, stronger policies, and more resilient healthcare systems. Each study we conduct is designed to inform national guidelines, train doctors and nurses, and improve care for patients where it is needed most.

In other words, our research is not just about numbers; it is about impacting lives. By turning scientific findings into practical solutions, we bridge the gap between the lab, the clinic, and the community.

Our CRK-NGO Research Focus in Kenya

At CRK-NGO, our research is guided by one principle: relevance to the communities we serve. We design and implement studies that respond to Kenya’s most pressing health needs, focusing on conditions and systems that are often overlooked yet most impactful.

Cardiovascular Disease Research in Kenya

Heart disease is a leading cause of illness and death in Kenya, yet access to care is limited. We focus on hypertension, rheumatic heart disease, heart failure, and cardiac amyloidosis, generating evidence to guide prevention and treatment.

Non-communicable disease research

Conditions such as diabetes, stroke, and obesity are rising fast but remain underdiagnosed. Our NCD research explores risk factors and prevention strategies to reduce this growing burden.

Health Systems & Implementation Science

Healthcare is only as strong as the systems behind it. We study quality improvement programs, data tools, and policies to ensure research translates into better care and stronger hospitals.

Community-Based Research in Kenya

We engage directly with communities in Kibera, Mathare, Dandora, and rural Maasai villages. By studying poverty, environment, and access barriers, our research stays practical, ethical, and relevant.
Ethical and community-centered health research

Our Research Approach

At CRK-NGO, research is not just about generating data; it is about creating change. That is why our approach to research combines collaboration, ethics, and translation into action.

Partnerships That Strengthen Our Research

We work hand in hand with local hospitals, universities, and international partners to design and deliver studies that are relevant and impactful. By collaborating with organizations such as the Kenya Cardiac Society, KEMRI, and KMPDC, we ensure that our research aligns with national health priorities and strengthens Kenya’s medical community.

Ethical and Community-Centered

We believe that communities should not only participate in research but also help shape it. That is why every project we undertake emphasizes informed consent, cultural sensitivity, and community involvement. This ensures that our studies are not only scientifically sound but also respectful and ethical.

Translating Research into Action

Our commitment goes beyond publishing findings. We actively work to translate research into practice, ensuring that insights influence clinical guidelines, health policies, and frontline care. This means that every study we complete has a direct line to improving real-world patient outcomes.
